Welcome to the USA Datanet Peregrine Falcon Cam!
Here you will find the home of a male and female peregrine falcon,
located in the heart of downtown Syracuse, NY, on the 20th floor of the
State Tower Building. These peregrine falcons have been nesting here at
the State Tower building for 6 years.
In the 1970's the peregrine falcon was declared an endangered species;
however, in 1999 they were delisted nationwide due to the efforts of many
organizations trying to conserve them. Although there have been many
efforts nationwide, they are still considered endangered in some areas
including here in New York State.
The peregrine falcon is an incredibly smart creature, and they are
known for their high speed flying and hunting skills. They can fly up to
speeds of 40 - 50 miles per hour, and when they are hunting these falcons
can even fly up to 200 miles per hour when they dive for their prey! |
